Estate Plan Membership

Most estate plans are signed once and never touched again — until it's too late to fix them. Membership changes that. For a predictable annual fee, our firm keeps your New York estate plan reviewed, updated, and ready, so the documents your family relies on actually work when they're needed.

Traditional estate planning is a one-time transaction. You pay several thousand dollars, sign a stack of documents, shake hands, and leave with a handsome binder. And then — for most families — nothing. Ten years pass. The executor named in the will passes away, and nobody notices. A house is sold, a business is started, a grandchild is born, the law changes twice, and the binder sits on a shelf, quietly going out of date.

Membership turns that transaction into a permanent relationship. Instead of documents that were accurate on one day in the past, you get a plan that is maintained — reviewed every year, updated when New York law moves, and backed by an attorney who already knows your family and picks up the phone when something happens. You should not have to remember to maintain your estate plan. That becomes our job.

Annual plan review

Most estate planning clients never come back to review their documents — not because nothing changed, but because nobody reminded them. As a member, you never have to remember. Each year, our firm reaches out to you, walks through your plan, and checks it against your current family, your current assets, and current New York law. If everything still fits, we tell you so. If something has drifted, we catch it before it becomes a problem.

Proactive document updates when New York law changes

New York estate law does not stand still. Exclusion amounts change, Medicaid rules shift, court procedures evolve — and a plan drafted under last decade's rules can quietly stop doing its job. When New York law changes in a way that affects your documents, we contact you first, explain the change in plain English, and make the update. Minor tweaks and adjustments are included in your membership, so there is never a reason to put off a fix.

Priority scheduling

When something urgent happens — a diagnosis, a hospitalization, a sudden family question — waiting two weeks for an appointment is not an option. Members go to the front of the line. We hold time in our calendar specifically for member matters, which means same-day or next-day scheduling when you genuinely need it. Most of the time you will never use this benefit. In the moment you do, it is the one that matters most.

Emergency guidance line

Estate emergencies rarely happen during business hours. Members receive access to our emergency guidance line for the moments that cannot wait: a parent taken to the hospital without a health care proxy on file, a bank refusing to honor a power of attorney, a death in the family and nobody knows what to do first. You reach a person who knows your file, not a voicemail, and you get calm, practical direction on the next step.

Family extension at a preferred rate

Estate planning works best when the whole family is covered. Membership extends beyond you: your adult child's first will, your aging parent's power of attorney, a health care proxy for a sibling — all available at a preferred family rate. It is far easier to help your loved ones plan when the door is already open, the attorney already knows your family, and the price reflects an ongoing relationship rather than a brand-new engagement.

Exclusive content and events

Members receive what the general public does not: members-only webinars on New York estate and elder law topics, early access to our guides before they are published, and plain-English briefings when something meaningful changes in Albany or Washington. No jargon, no filler, no scare tactics — just the information a New York family actually needs to keep its plan working, delivered by the attorney who maintains that plan for you year after year.

Annual estate-health summary letter

Once a year, you receive a one-page letter — physically mailed, on paper — summarizing the state of your estate plan: which documents you have, when each was last reviewed, who holds which role, and anything we recommend watching in the year ahead. Keep it with your important papers. If something ever happens to you, that single page tells your family exactly where things stand, what exists, and who to call first.

Membership pricing depends on the complexity of your plan; your exact fee is quoted in writing before you enroll. You may cancel at any renewal, no questions asked.
