About Myself
Prior to starting her own private practice, Marianna Schwartsman practiced law at the New York City law firm of Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP for nine years where she obtained comprehensive knowledge of trusts and estate laws. She later practiced at the Long Island law firm of Meltzer Lippe Goldstein and Breitstone LLP, where she focused her practice in the trusts and estates area of law and expanded her knowledge into areas of income tax and basis planning methods.
Marianna is a 2007 graduate of Fordham University School of Law, Summa Cum Laude, and is admitted to practice in New York. Right after law school, Marianna knew that she wanted to work in the private client forum where she could plan for families and their wealth. Marianna interned in Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP and received an offer to join the firm’s trusts and estate practice.
At Katten, Marianna focused on estates and trusts administration, and domestic and international estate planning. After many years of learning and perfecting her knowledge of trusts and estate tax and State laws, Marianna moved on to Meltzer Lipper Goldstein and Breitstone LLP to continue learning and practicing in the area of personal planning. After three years with Meltzer Lippe Goldstein and Breitstone LLP, Marianna felt that it was time to start her own practice and started Schwartsman Law Group PLLC.
Schwartsman Law Group PLLC offers all aspects of personal planning for individuals, families, and businesses, as well as representation of fiduciaries. The Firm successfully administers estates of significant volume and complexity, starting with probate and through all the post-mortem tax elections, allocations, distributions and accountings. The Firm specializes in advising fiduciaries and families through all stages of estates and trusts administration.

David Kohina is a senior attorney with Schwartsman Law Group. Being an immigrant, David Kohina decided to attend law school and become an attorney as a way to give back, inspire and motivate others to follow their American dream. Admitted to the New York Bar in 2010, David began his career in law as a solo practitioner focusing on general civil litigation, immigration, real estate and business law. In his private practice attorney Kohina gained extensive experience in representing clients in complex litigation matters. At Schwartsman Law Group, attorney Kohina’s primary focus includes complex and contested Surrogate’s Court probate and administration matters as well as fiduciary and general litigation. David’s’ unique understanding and personal affinity towards others often translates into a personal connection and exceptional service to his clients.
Trilingual attorney David Kohina can assist and explain the complex Trusts and Estate law to clients in Russian, Hebrew and English. From a simple dispute to complex litigation, attorney Kohina advocates for his clients and has a proven track record of success in and out of the courtroom.
David also brings to his clients an extensive background in business and international commerce.
